"Which Method is Right for Me?" Decision Guide
Best choice: Stud Mounts
Textured surfaces reduce contact area for tape and can cause failures over time. Stud mounting anchors the letters mechanically and is the most reliable option for masonry and rough finishes.

Best choice: Double-Sided Tape (VHB)
If your surface is smooth, clean, and non-porous (painted drywall in good shape, glass, metal, acrylic panels), VHB tape is the quickest method and keeps the wall intact.
Avoid tape if the paint is dusty/chalky, peeling, or heavily textured.

Best choice: Stud Mounts
Exterior installs face heat/cold cycles, moisture, and wind forces. Stud mounts are the most dependable long-term method for outdoor signs—especially for larger or heavier letters.

Best choice: Stud Mounts
Large letters put more stress on adhesives and can shift over time. Stud mounts distribute the load and keep letters aligned. For challenging walls, mounting to a backer panel can simplify installation and increase strength.

Best choice: Double-Sided Tape (VHB)
Glass and metal are ideal for tape mounting because they’re smooth and non-porous. Clean thoroughly first, align with a level/template, and apply firm pressure to each letter for a strong bond.

Best choice: Any method + use the pattern/template
Most alignment problems come from a shifting template or skipping a level line. Secure the pattern well, re-check level, and dry-fit a couple pieces before committing.
If you need maximum “locked-in” placement, stud mounts are easiest to keep perfectly aligned once holes are drilled.

Best choice: Double-Sided Tape (VHB)
For smooth indoor surfaces, tape is typically the fastest method—no drilling, no anchors, and minimal tools. The key is surface prep and firm pressure during install.
